Speed Dating vs. Online Dating

Speed dating versus online dating can pretty much come down to personal preference and how you like to meet people. If you are a fluent and social person that enjoys a public atmosphere and you find no difficulties in speaking with slew of potential daters in a short period of time, then the new dating service concept of speed dating may just be for you.

Some speed dating sites offer you to sign up with them and register for speed dating parties where you are able to go from table to table to feel out any magnetism while face to face with another potential dater. They create an online profile if registering online, and answer a series of questions that require a person to indicate their likes and dislikes and of course what they are looking for when meeting someone.

These evenings are often called speed dating parties that can either be a party that is arranged by your online dating service, or it can be arranged through private parties and planners as well. Which ever the case, speed dating is becoming a quick and easy way for a lot of singles to meet at one time.

The setting can be a bar-like atmosphere where you set off to meet oodles of people in one short evening with real live mini dates. Some work with score cards and ID numbers that identify you to the organizers and allow you have a seat at the many tables for two only. You have a chance to talk to the person at your table for a certain amount of time until an indication that the time is over for that particular person. Then onto the next person at the table for a series of quickly-get-know-you type of conversations where you later indicate on a rating system (secretly) of a yes or no beside the persons ID number if you decide that you would like to take the speed dating farther and get to know this person outside of the speed dating perimeters. This person that you are interested in may or may not be interested in you, so it is a match up process from there as well for the organizers of the speed party.

The profile that you filled out and a photo helps others remember who you are and also works for you as well so you wont forget who you met - after all your mate could be out there - you wouldn't want to miss him or her!

This ingenious way to meet a number of people in one night can be very satisfying for some because there is nothing like magnetism between two people, and when you are speed dating you definitely have the chance for it.

There is however, a downside to dating this way - if a quieter person with a difficulty of knowing what questions to ask (although the organizers do hand out pointers) or if meeting in such a way can be somewhat overwhelming when speaking with over 20 people and not one seemed your type. However, the definite up side of this is that you only spent one night trying to meet your match as apposed to traditional online dating where you could have wasted your time for weeks trying to establish a relationship online with someone, only to finally meet, and there be nothing more between the two of you then the fact that you met online.

There is a definite positive to both forms of dating. The obvious perks of speed dating has been outlined already with the handfuls of people that you can meet, and the mere fact that you spent very little time in doing so - but it obviously can be quite a disappointment if you thought you felt something from across the table with someone that you met one evening, only to find out at the end, that they didn't feel if for you.

I guess that would be the downfall in any relationship though, either traditionally meeting, online dating or speed dating, which ever is your choice, they are all fun, exciting and give you the chance to meet such interesting and looking for love type people all at once. It's like being in a room full of lov'in.
